ESA to UC migration was created by Gareth56
Is it only those on Income Based ESA that are being migrated over to UC and those on Contribution Based are remaining on CB ESA?

Thanks

Yes, although there is a UC version of ESA(CB) call New Style ESA and it's not clear whether ESA(CB) claimants will be moved to this as well.

Some claimants, in UC areas, who received ESA have already been migrated to UC. Although Social Workers in some areas think that only working age claimants making a new claim will be put onto UC.
It's my understanding that all claimants receiving ESA will be migrated to UC, with the main 'roll out' beginning in July 2019.

In question to Gordon, what is New style ESA (UCESA), please and why might someone in ESA Support group be migrated onto UC?

I

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

No ESA(IR) claimants have been migrated to UC, a number of ESA claimants have had to claim UC because they needed to claim benefits in an area where UC was the only option available.

As far as I am aware there is no date when ESA(IR) claimants will begin to be migrated to UC, there is a date next year when the migration of claimants receiving the benefits that fall under UC but there is no additional detail and given the rollout of UC to date, it seems optimistic that this process will start then.

New Style ESA is the equivalent of ESA(CB) under the current or what is now called, legacy system. It is a separate benefit from UC.

It is not whether you are in the Support Group or not that determines whether you will or will not be migrated to UC, it is the type of ESA that you are receiving, UC replaces Income Related ESA.

At the moment it will be ESA. There is no limit on how old evidence can be providing you can show that it is still relevant to your daughter's conditions as they are now, however, the new the better and you will have fewer problems with it if it is less than two years old.
