Advice on cancelled PIP appointment

Advice on cancelled PIP appointment was created by ccactus
After much deliberation and with my Doctors advice I decided to apply for PIP; sending my forms back for the 26th August, I was surprised when my appointment came through for today (8/10/2018) at 9.10am. I received two letters, a text message and a email reminding me of the fact. I arranged for a family member to take me this morning (who booked the day of work). As everyone who has been for a medical for PIP or ESA I had very little sleep last night worrying about it. Setting of early this morning to account for the traffic and to try and find a parking space; I arrived at 8.50am and duly booked myself in. At 9.00am I was told by the receptionist my appointment was being cancelled due to the "system" being down. Obviously I was not happy, and asked if there was anyone else who could see me, she repeated the system was down, and offered me an appointment for tomorrow, which I refused as I would not be able to get there; in the mean time another person had come in and been called in for their medical, I then said I thought the system was down, and asked if there was a complaints system, to which she circled the number on the top of my appointments letter, and then said she would try and get me a home appointment.
My questions are: Can I trust them to arrange another appointment for me, or as I have read many times say I failed to turn up for my appointment.
Is it worth making a complaint or will this be deemed to go against me, as and when I get assessed.
Or do I phone up and tell them myself the appointment was cancelled, and try arrange another for myself.
Call my paranoid but I felt the whole thing was deliberate.

Many thanks

I would write a short letter to the DWP office dealing with your claim, the address will be on the letter that came with the PIP2, explaining what happened with the first appointment.

The Assessment Provider will book a new appointment and send you written notification of this, you can ring them if you want to book an appointment convenient to you, however, if they have already booked a new appointment then this would count as your one chance to rearrange.

It's up to you about making a complaint, if you do then it should have no impact on your assessment as it is dealt with by a separate department
