I refused to claim this extra esa money they say that they owe me. I’m terrified that by filling in the form asking for the income related esa constitutes a change of circumstances and that for me is a bad thing. I get the war pension with an allowance for lower standard of occupation premium and now you can only get either that or esa but not both. I thought that since I was getting over £150 a week war disablement pension then surely there is no way I’d qualify for the income related esa. So I pay for dental etc etc. Now I find it really really difficult to get proper advice and I know you don’t really know much about war pensions. Should I look further into this ? Several thousand pounds would help lots and lots but I refuse to ask for it if it means a change of circumstances as I will lose the esa I get of £112.05 a week

The easiest thing is for you to put your information into one of the online benefit calculators, this will allow you to understand how much ESA you might receive if you were eligible for an ESA(IR) top-up.
