 Hello I am a member of "Benefits & Work & was reading your email on the member who was trying to Record his Atos interview.I saw that the member had been on Incap.Ben. for many years but was surprised to see that as an EXISTING claimant that he was having an Atos interview now in 2009.The DWP informed my wife last yr that only NEW ESA claimants wereto be interviewed until July 2010 & thatEXISTING Incap.Claimants would not start to be interviewed until 1st July 2010.In fact my wife had her renewal extended 1 yr to 1st July 2010 in that same letter.Could you please clarify the situation on when EXISTING Incap.Claimants will start to be intervied by Atos and merged on to ESA? Hi Phillip,

Current IB claimants will moving over to ESA from sometime between 2010 and 2013 according to the Government, but this is uncertain with a General Election due by May next year, it's likely to be delayed.

However, if someone is currently on IB, but their IB is due for review before they're moved onto ESA, they could still have to undergo a medical by Atos, if the DWP Decision Maker requests one.

Hope this helps.
