TOPIC: NI Contributions only

NI Contributions only 7 years 4 months ago #14929

Hi

I wonder if someone could explain something to me. The explanation of the draft ESA regulations mention that people on NI contributions only do not get migrated until 2014. I receive Income Support because I do not have enough NI contributions for IB so does this mean people such as myself are safe until 2014? I also receive DLA and associated disability premuims.

Thanks in advance...

I should add that I receive NI credits now as part of my IS but I thought everyone on disability benefits did so?

Hi,

There are some IB claimants who receive no money at all but get their NI 'account' credited only. Such a case can occur when a person receives a high Occupational Pension which 'wipes out' their IB payments. However NI credits are maintained towards State Pension.

It is in cases like this where it is proposed to migrate them to ESA in 2014.
