Hi 123pinner

Everyone claiming IB is being transferred to ESA
No-one here agree's with it as its the governments way of finding out who can work and who cannot.

You will have to attend six interviews with an advisor he or she will be asking you questions on what kind of work you think you can do.

All depending on what you say the advisor will recommend courses that you might like to go on.

The advisor will get any information he or she can from the job centre then a work plan will be given to you with information added like courses or Work related assignments that you intend to do to find work or other tasks that you might have agreed to carry out.

The WFI is based on what work you can do and not what you cannot do well that's what they told me.

check out your rights at the the work focussed interview

The idea is to get you off of benefits and into a job providing you can find one.

Try not to worry 123pinner!

It seems that people are routinely summoned to this WFI when they've been on IB for 3 years.

This happened to me just before Christmas last year and scared me witless  but in fact it was a formality.

I dragged myself to the WFI and the person who saw me agreed I wasn't fit for work, checked that they had the correct contact details for me and sent me off with a handful of leaflets about courses they ran on such things as pain management.

He said there was no obligation for me to attend any of the courses. He said I wouldn't have to attend another WFI as they happen every three years, but not once you are aged 60 or over. As I will reach the age of 60 in two years, he said I shouldn't have to attend another WFI.

(Not sure how the change in retirement age will affect this, but I'm 58 now and he and I both knew at the time that it would in fact be three and a half years before I would reach state pension age at the age of almost 62.)

The actual WFI took less than 5 minutes- tho' the taxi there and back and the time spent waiting took much longer. It was a waste of time but totally unthreatening.

So I wouldn't worry about it 123pinner. :) You do have to attend however, unless you can get a letter from your GP saying that you are not well enough to do so. I didn't get enough notice of the WFI to get a note from my doctor!
