DLA Renewal

DLA Renewal was created by SnowDragon
I have had a renewal pack for DLA. I have now just about completed it using prompting from my previous claim which went though fine.

I have completed the new form taking into account changes in circumstances and using the guides on here and my old form. I used no guides or any help for the old form.

I have written far more this time than last through using the guides here.

I am quite worried as I have been told by a CAB person that the DWP are purposely declining claims and that the appeals process is nearing meltdown.

Surely if my old form that contained less information went through OK and the new form with much more information is declined surely questions should be asked?

Hi, Snowdragon. If you have copleted the form following the guides on this site and you have enclosed medical evidence to support your application please dont worry unduly. This site seems to see all the cases that go wrong(for all the wrong reasons and are put right at appeal) Read through alot of the posts and there are some good news stories. Best Wishes

Thank you Jeff.

Am I right in thinking that the renewal is treated as a completely new claim? As such the renewal form has to be completed in as much detail as the previous claim?

Do the DWP not refer to the previous claim to check any differences?

Hi snowdragon, I think it is but i am not a qualified person and dont want to mislead you, one of the Mods will probably answer your question in more detail but do look at all the guides on this site. Best Wishes

Hi SnowDragon,

The renewal is generally treated as a fresh claim and it is very unlikely that evidence from your previous application would be taken into account - except possibly for claimants who are sent the pilot short form, but that's another issue entirely.

It sounds like you have done all the right things, but I'm afraid that consistent and reasonable decsion making is not a strong point at the DWP, so all you can do is wait and see what happens.

Good luck and do let us know the outcome,

Steve
