Hello helchis

Despite your concerns that you are not doing very well it sounds to me that you actually making real strides in handling your illness. It must have taken a great deal of effort to come onto this forum and post your message and yet you did it.

Nothing you have said seems out of place for someone claiming IB, so I would say, don't worry about the DWP watching you because they have no reason to.

I know it can be easy, when you read the newspapers, to think everyone is against the disabled, but the truth is that's not the case. I'm sure that if you go back to your IB50 forms and have a look at what you wrote you'll see that these are real problems that deserve the payments you receive.

I see a counscellor for my depression and it has made a real difference to how I see myself, keep doing what you are doing and I know that you'll see improvements as well.

Hi Helcris

The word 'cannot' on the IB50 or ESA50 has actually been defined in case law as meaning cannot with reasonable regularity, or without making a supreme effort. It does not mean that you can never ever get out, so you don't need to feel that you are contradicting your claim if you do go out. And you are making an effort to go out, it's not as if it is second nature.

The benefit fraud team are more interested in people who claim difficulty walking but play golf or run marathons. They don't have the resources to follow every IB or ESA claimant to check that their general lifestyle is consistent with there claim.

I don't think you need to worry about anything.

Regards

Derek
