Esa arrears was created by sue615
Hi,

Hoping somebody can shed some light for me as I have no idea what this means. I received a letter today from ESA it states that an arrears payment from 22/9/10 to 24/9/10 amounts to £28.05. Does anyone have any idea what that amount would be for, I am receiving assessment rate whilst awaiting appeal/looked at again. My payment that week went in as normal. I did speak to a guy from ESA the other week who said that I should not have been refused and he was putting notes onto my case for whoever makes decision to see. Could that amount and the fact that is arrears be a tiny glimmer of hope?

Any idea's would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sue

Hi,

That amount is equal to three days ESA at the assessment rate:

ie. £65.45 divided by 7 and times by 3 = £28.05.

Were you owed three days arrears from that period (22/09 to 24/09)?

Hi Pete,

No as far as I am aware I have been paid the normal asessment rate each fortnight, then it was stopped until appeal form went in and payment that was stopped was paid a week later.

No doubt time will tell, seems strange to me.

Thanks for the reply

Hi Sue

Did you appeal in late September?

It's possible your ESA was stopped and reinstated three days later when they received your GL/24 form, in which case it would be a arrears payment for those three days.

Hi Sue, I lost my message so dont know if it will be posted or not!
The same thing with ESA arrears happened to me but it was for a full week. I think what the guy said to you may be more relevant; ie that you shouldnt have been taken off it. Good luck with everything,
Rachel

Hi Rachel & Derek,
Thanks for the replies, my payments have been the same every frotnight, one payment was a week late due to appeal form but was still for the same amount so as far as I am aware I am owed nothing, will keep everything crossed and hope for the best. If they have awarded me esa then they owe me a lot more than £28.05, will update if/when I hear from them.

Thanks again,

Sue
