Can payment be made conditional on treatment?

Is it legal for payment to be made contingent on undertaking a specific treatment?

Similarly, is it legal to make payment contingent on discussing a specific treatment with a GP?

If it is not, what should be quoted by way of a response.

Best Regards,

Off the top of my head, no, payment of benefits cannot be made conditional on specific treatment, but I can't think of anything I've read that stops you being required to discuss a treatment option with your GP. I'll see if I can find an authority for this.

I can't find a source for this. Hopefully one of the other moderators will be able to help.

Hi M

I take it you are referring to a benefit payment.

What benefit is it?

I have searched a variety of sources wuth no specific results, however, I did find reference to a proposal, which involed a limited trial, in which benefits would be refused or at least restricted for drug users.
