Assuming one has been getting mobility higher rate, is half way through a hire purchase agreement & loses mobility component of DLA on reassessment, what happens to the vehicle? Is it repossessed? or is the person allowed to continue payments by other arrangements? Any one have experience of this?

Dear Chills,

You need to contact Motability Operations. As the vehicle is on hire purchase it may be possible if the monthly payments are still affordable, to come to alternative arrangements.

Motability have s specialist Resolutions Team to assist in these situation.

You need to contact them using Motability's normal 'phone number 0845 456 4566, and a member of their Resolutions Team who are London based will phone you.

Good luck.

Pat

PS. All our Motabilty cars have been on lease, and I seem to remember that Motability will allow their cars to be retained pending an appeal, but not sure if this applies to their HP scheme.

When my driving licence was medically revoked i simply handed my car back to the dealer. When i called Motability they said i could easily start a new contract on another vehicle if i get my licence back.

Thanks Pata1 & Ranald! It hasn't happened yet, but 'to be fore-warned is to be
fore-armed' ! For now, I shall just wait to see how my ESA50 medical goes :(
