DLA and alcohol was created by samantha
Would the admission of an alcohol problem at a DLA appeal in someone suffering with serious osteosporosis help the claimant's case or do tribunals take a dim view of alcoholism?

The DWP recognises alcohol related disorders
as a recognised psychiatric disorder. See
www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-g...-medical-conditions/
If you present the problem as evidence, then you must show how it contributes to your disability and specifically how it relates to your DLA claim. You should also be prepared to answer questions on why this has not previously been presented.
You also need to keep this and any other evidence in context to the original decision, the tribunal will not consider anything that has occurred since the decision was originally made.

Thanks for your helpful reply Gordon.
Thankfully, info about alcohol problem was mentioned in the claim form.
Is there any chance they might use that to opt for low care even though the risk is broken/fractured bones from falls even though the claimant has already suffered several fractures of his spine.

I'm not knowledgeable about the DLA test, but I can't see how having an additional medical problem (alcoholism) could adversely affect someones entitlement to DLA.
In response to your first post, tribunals see many appellants with alcohol problems, some claiming purely for that particular problem. Therefore they cannot possibly do their job properly if they take a dim view on alcoholism.

It should and I think would just be treated as another problem the person has, the affects it has on the person claiming DLA should and I think would be looked at with an open mind .....
