Can't say that I've had that type of call myself, but I've just run the number you gave past a call tracing web site

And it isn't logged as any number they've heard about yet.

Am I the only one who's finding all this extremely creepy?

I mean It's eitehr the DWP upping their powers of intimidation or a fraudster trying it on. Both answers worry me somewhat.

Hi Dave, thnks a mill. I was a bit sus. but got very when they were coming out with random nonsense, really should have hung up on the call. Think though, the DWP will try anything these days. thanx

I do know they can get copies of your Bank Statements without your authorisation because they done this with previously when I moved home. I know this because they interviewed me about it.
