DLA appeal was created by delphinium
You have kindly given excellent advice when my husband's dla was due for renewal after two years and got reduced to no mobility and lowest care. We have excellent support letters written by two of his consultants and also by his gp. The neuro surgeon said he would only do a report direct to the dla if requested by them. We sent it all in but now have had a sort of standard letter saying they are looking at it again and will be in touch within eleven weeks. Does this mean they will put it forward for appeal, or can they refuse to do this. Don't really know what more evidence to gather apart from Peter having a medical examination.
Thoughts would be helpful
thank you

Providing you have completed and returned within the four week time limit, a GL24 Appeal form, then you have done all you needed to.

Part of the appeal process is for the DWP to carry out a Reconsideration of the evidence, which is what they appear to have written to you about.

With regard to your neuro surgeon, whilst the DWP do write to GPs and Consultants for more evidence, they do not do this all of the time, so it might be worth asking him/her to reconsider their position. Would they be willing to write a report, if you paid them for it?

Hope this explains it.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Having seen many reports by many drs and then reading the questions they ask drs on the DWP page of questions asked of drs for different problems

I think in many cases unless the dr has some :) guideance as how to write his report so that its of use and not adding to the confusion ... some reports are more harm than good IMO ect ect :)
