WCA Report Information was created by Chris_63
Can anyone advise me if the WCA report that is produced by ATOS gives an indication of illness prognosis, and how closely is this used by the decision maker to set the review period.

I am assuming it is the decision maker that sets the review period, based on the ATOS report - or is this incirrect?

Cheers

Hi Chris

I think that is correct. Most people who are given six months usually receive a medical form six months later or shortly after.

As ESA50s are sent my Medical Services I don't know if there is an automated process of sending ESA50s or whether the DWP initiates it.

It should be at the back of the ATOS medical report, although it didn't say very much on mine. I suspect it is a dropdown in the LIMA software with some set values.

As you know the Decision Makers are not medically trained, so I believe they take the prognosis as is.

Is this a fact ? A DM has no medical knowledge and therefore is allowed to make a decision? Sounds like he should be renamed RS not DM (Rubber Stamper)

DM at IB ESA and DLA have never been medical trained though after a couple of years I expect they know more than some GPs and most of the Drs at ATOS IMO of course ... dealing with facts as they are supposed to ... most people on here could do the DM makers job after a weeks training ...... if you looked at www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-g...-medical-conditions/ and with access to a dr and the manuals .... you could do it :)
