DLA Medical was created by Bill
Hello,

I have been to the Members Section to download the ''70 Questions Youre Likely To Be Asked at a DLA Medical'' is this the most up to date info?

I ask because its dated April 2007 I wonder can any of the Mods confirm please?

Many thanks.

Bill

Hi,

i am not aware of any changes to DLA legislation in the past few years which may have an impoact on the questions asked at the medical.

Obviously when DLA becomes obsolescent and is replaced by PIP then a new version for PIP will hopefully be published.

Sorry, I also wanted to know this if you can help please Pete?

I have a terrible memory and am tired all the time (making it worse) so is it acceptable, or will it look odd, if I take some notes to remind me of what I want to tell the examiner i.e. what I need help with etc?

Thanks again.

Hi Bill,

Most of the questions will be addressed to you by the Doctor, but having an 'aide memoire' is not a problem, particularly if you explain the reason.

It also gives you a chance to note down anything the visiting Doctor says as well so you don't forget what he/she has said.

Having someone else who knows you well present when you are being examined is also a good idea, as they maybe able to help prompt you if you have forgotten anything.

only one big change :) are you blind as per the new regs that came in this 11th April 2011

If your visual acuity is:
less than 3/60, meaning you only can read the top line of an eye test chart from 3 metres away, you will qualify for the higher rate
more than 3/60 but less than 6/60, meaning you can only read the top line of the eye test chart from 6 metres away, your visual field will need to be considered as well.
If your visual acuity falls into the second category, then you will only qualify if you also have both:
a complete loss of your peripheral vision
and severely restricted central vision ("tunnel vision"), meaning no more than 10 degrees in diameter.
If your visual acuity is better than 6/60 you will not qualify, for example if your acuity is 6/36 or 6/18.

get higher mobility :silly:
