Are there any rules or guidelines concerning the frequency of ESA re-assessment.

I have heard of a case where a person successfully claimed ESA less than a year ago, and has now been notified that they are to be reassessed.

The frequency of re-assessments vary widely. When considering whether to reassess someone, a decision maker is expected to take into account what the Atos HCP said at the last assessment. Some people are assessed as frequently as every three months.

So the person having won at tribunal is not used as a reason ? :) That aside is there any common sense used ? never having been bothered by DWP the only time they gave me a time scale it was 5 years which seemed right

Based on Members comments, winning a Tribunal seems to make it more likely that you will have a re-assessment in the short term :(

Based on comments from Members, I would say that 12 months seems to be the upper limit for the time between assessments, with the vast majority being in the 6-8 months timeframe, although as Survivor posted there are some who seem to recieve a new ESA50 as soon as a Decision has been made on the last assessment.

interesting so my next question is do/did people get longer gaps on IB than esa and on IB went 14 years ish without a check on staus then had ib50 sent in was told 5 years then when i sent in report to show now exempt no more ib50s :)

so when they move me to esa and i get put in the support group :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: will it be 5 years between check ups ? :)

Does it appear to make any difference what your age is, according to how often you are re-assessed?

I mean are they targetting older or younger people for more frequent re-assessment?

Would be interested to know if there is any bias?

Cheers
Bill
