ESA Renewal Form

ESA Renewal Form was created by mumsgirl
Last October I was 'successful' in getting ESA (wrag), (although I was never called to do any activities). In the report, though, it said I would be fit for work in 6 months, even though I have a CHRONIC mental health problem (depression/anxiety/perhaps phobia of people), so I was expecting a review any time from April onwards. Today I received a Limited Capabilty for Work Questionaire form. I'm not sure but I think it's a bit different from the form I got last year - I think it was called an ESA50 (I have a copy somewhere). I was wondering if you would be kind enough to advise me how to fill it in? Quite frankly, nothing has changed since the last time (and i'm still waiting for a psychiatrist appoinment). Is the form i've got today different from the one I got last year, and will I need to go for another horrendous medical? As things haven't changed can I just copy what I wrote last time or even write on the front No Change or something. Also, since there has been no change I would assume that I should get the same result as last time (although I hoped for longer than 6 months and to be put in the support group!). If the result comes back 'fit to work' could I appeal, especially on the grounds that last year's result for the exact same thing said I wasn't fit for work. Should I ask my doctor to write a letter (I didn't the last time but I think they contacted her) Please advise me what to do as I am very worried and it's taken over my life.

The ESA criteria have been signficantly revised since you originally applied so you will not be able to use your previous ESA50.

Have you thought about getting face to face advice from the CAB or Welfare Rights, as they will be able to help you complete the form and decide what evidence you need to support your case.

We have updated guides in the Members explaining how to comlete the ESA50 based on your disability.

You definitely need evidence to support your claim, so speaking to your doctor is a good idea.

If your re-assessment is unsuccessful, then you can appeal, but you should put your efforts into passing the medical rather than worrying about this :)

If you have more questions, please come back to the forum.

Select the Help for Claimants link in the orange section on the left of the page.

Then select the Employment & Support claims and appeals link.

The guides at the top of the page are for the current ESA tests and the those lower down are for the presious criteria.
