Mike

The Support Group is criteria based unlike the WRAG which is points based.

There is a list of the criteria in our Understandinf ESA guide in the Members area.

SUPPORT GROUP: EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
You assessed yourself as being eligible for the support group because you are covered by the following exceptional circumstances:

Because of your physical or mental health condition or learning disability, there would be a substantial risk to the mental or physical health of any person, including you, if you were found not to have limited capability for work-related activity.

i ticked this due to my self harm as that relates to it i think,

Just to be clear the poster has written 'not to have' where in fact it would be ' to have' ...limited capability ...

what is 'substantial' risk, it's an important term. I'd suggest it means more that possible and somewhat closer to probable. And as regards risks to the health... I wonder if mere discomfort and anxiety are enough. I would argue that physical and mental well being are what health is and that anything which is likely to undermine this in an individual claimant amounts to the substantial risk

(as regards the claimant themselves) or would it mean it could lead them to suicidal impulses, or physical injury etc etc
