Council Tax ? was created by lulu
Could anyone online tell me if one person receives attendance allowance(my dad) and he own his home and is currently paying the full council tax, does he get any reduction(benefit) for having been awarded AA higher rate ? I called on their behalf(council) but what a carry on, they tokld me to tell them to do it online which they tried and gave up after 2 hrs !

regardless of discount for AA people on there own in a house get discount

As you know, this isn't something we advise on here, but if he needs an extra room for equipment or a carer, find out if your local council does any sort of a discount for it. My local council does.

Hi Lulu,

If your Dad is the only occupant of his property, he should be getting a 25% discount off his full Council Tax bill.

Depending upon his income, he may qualify for Council Tax Benefit

He may also qualify for Council Tax reduction for disabled people which if successful, his Council Tax band will be reduced by one band. e.g. If it's in band C, it will be reduced to band B.
