Are you referring to taking your carer to work-focused interviews or work-related activities?

As far as I know, under the Disability Discrimination Act, if you need a carer with you at all times then you should be able to have one with you at all times. In case there is a problem, a supporting letter from GP or Social Work will always help. Good Luck.

hi derek4
i do not know whats involved with work-focused interviews or work related activities, i was just wandering if she could be with me at all times, another problem is that if i am found fit for work (which i would love to do but is impossible) she would then have to work,we are on IS long term so what would i be able to do without my carer. this is so unfair
best regards

Hi darrenay

If you're found fit for work and manage to get a job as a fireman, your carer would not be able to accompany you into a burning building.

It does go to show the absurdity of ESA, that people who need a carer at all times find themselves worrying about being found fit for work. It should surely rule you out of any job unless a company is willing to pay you and your partner.

Don't forget that the WCA test is based on how you manage by yourself without help. You need to bear this in mind when filling in your ESA50.

Good luck

Derek
