Yes, things were bad back in 1992 when DLA was introduced, but things are a whole lot worse now.

I am not blaming the DWP decision makers directly, but due to massive internal reorganisation within the Department due to the decisions of successive governments, staff training is virtually none existent these days. This is exacerbated by senior management transferring staff between different branches within the DWP, expecting them to be immediately au fait with new procedures and new regulations. Furthermore, staff cutbacks which cannot be sustained without negative consequences coupled with slipshod (re-)organisation, is a recipe for disaster. That is precisely why the amount of costly official errors is at an all time high within the DWP.

If anyone is to blame for the shortcomings at the DWP, first and foremost it is the government closely followed by senior management within the Department, who quite frankly couldn't organise a p*** up in a brewery!

i am very glad you won your appeal, well i had a medical last week, the so-called doctor put all my complaints wrong. I even gave them copies of my scans but she never read them, she just put lots of inaccurate statements down, You say you wrote to Atos so please could I have there address? I know they are in Wembley somewhere. cheers :(

Hi,

I complained to Atos at this address:

Complaints
Medical Services
Atos Origin
4 Triton Square
Regent's Place
London
NW1 3HG

When they wrote back to me, it was from this address:

ATOS Healthcare
Wing G - Block 1
Government Buildings
Otley Road
Lawnswood
Leeds
LS16 5PU

Good luck with your complaint, let me know how you get on. Be as detailed as possible, if the Dr wrote down something that was wrong or inaccurate tell them what she should have written. My complaint letter was almost 3 pages long, it took a while to write it as I can only sit at the computer for short bursts of time but it really was worth it.

It obviously doesn't make a difference but the second address (Leeds) that Zombii posted is the one on their complaints leaflet.

I agree, I think it does go on a lot. I think I said earlier that the DWP rep at my appeal said he was aware of the Dr that did my medical and subsequent report and that his reports are 'always poor'.

If the DWP KNOW that the reports are not of the required standard it beggars the question why are they accepting them. Surely if the report is badly written or doesn't have the correct information or information is missed out totally the DM is within his/her rights to refuse to accept it?

I was a DM for 16 years, granted I never worked for DLA...but I wouldn't make a decision on a claim if I was unhappy with the evidence in front of me.

Good luck with your appeal, Lovely. I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.
