Hi all,

I think we're getting a bit bogged down here.

The way I see it, as with all DWP/ATOS operating procedures, there is the way it should be done, which is obviously the only way that the MODS can advise you on, and the way it can be done, which is not always adhering to said operating procedures, and indeed there is much evidence of this.

Therefore if people feel that they want to send copy of their ESA50 to the DM as well as ATOS, or indeed any other relevant evidence, I can not see any harm in it.

There have been several cases reported, of ESA50's and other docs getting "lost", so if both relevant departments dealing with you're claim have copy, this helps with said problem.

My daughter has compiled 2 sets of duplicate files, ready to post when needed, one file for ATOS, which contains my ESA50, and added documented evidence.

This will be posted to ATOS within the time constraint provided if/when I receive my ESA50 through the post.

The other file for the DM contains exactly the same added documented evidence, but not the ESA50, I will send this to my local BDC DM, as soon as I receive the letter telling me that my transfer to ESA is starting.

Then, when I send the other file to ATOS, I will then also send copy of my ESA50 to the DM.

At that stage DM and ATOS will have exactly the same info in front of them.

My logic in not sending my completed ESA50 to the DM before ATOS is that this may well speed up the process, by up to 2 months or more.

As I have said, this is my preferred method, and people must choose, whichever way they feel is best for them.

As long as they abide by the minimum requirements of DWP/ATOS, they should not worry if someone else chooses to do things slightly differently.

cheers

Hi Bro58

It's not correct that Mods can only advise on how things should be done, in accordance with Atos/DWP procedure. For example the old ESA guides advised to send copies of medical evidence with the ESA50 even though the form tells you not to.

Oh dear, I'm really confused about all this. I've just got my ESA form through the post and am sitting with my daughter trying to fill it in! it does say no medicals but I think that means no 'sick note' type medicals and not actual medical reports from specialists who you are being treated by/waiting to hear from - could I be right here? - I live in Belfast so our forms may be different, should I send copies of everything with the ESA form plus copy to my local DLA/JBO office? They seem to put soo many 'traps' in your way to delay the process and therefore your money and entitlement - I feel that I should just through the lot out and forget about it, it is so demoralising to have to keep filling in form after form trying to 'convince' them you need this help etc.

The form is refering to Fit / Sick notes, which should always be sent directly to the DWP office dealing with your claim.

You are entitled to attach any medical evidence you have to the ESA50 as part of your claim.

Hi Gordon
With my IB I no longer need to send these notes in. However, I have a load of info dating back to 2004 which I intend to send in and let them 'filter' for themselves. I think the more I send them the better. However, I'm waiting on hospital appointments, which I'm currently on the list for Aug/Set this year, so I think this will hold my application up until all this is through, so I guess I'm gonna have to grin and bear a lot of paperwork over the next few months
