Stress is a killer for us disabled Folkies :)

I would agree that how an individual handles stress is important, but from my recent and current experience, the stress created by dealing with the forms, deadlines, medicals, the time they take to come to a decision and the uncertainty of it all, have indeed exacerbated my partners symptoms in a negative way. I do feel the current system is questionable under the Equality Act 2010, but I am not a legal expert. We certainly feel humiliated by the whole 'experience'.

There is no doubt we are all stressed and our problems can even be made worse by the way at times the dwp and atos mess us about.

In a few cases people might even have a case to take action because of the way they have been treated

but alas most of us wont have a leg to stand on ;) as people in full health have to deal with money problems covering the bills not knowing if they will have a job when the get to work, will they loses it in the next round of cuts :(

even winning the lottery would be a stress for me :) do i keep sending begging letter

Err not sure how it can be easier for someone with a disability. Speak to the equality commission, they told me that the number of disabled people being evicted is through the roof at the minute, they also told me that according to their experience those with disabilities are often treated more harshly and with less lea way than the able bodied. I am feeling rather annoyed with the world! I think I am also coming to terms with my partner being 'disabled' and have been appalled on how we have been treated differently and have been left feeling sub-human. I appreciate that those without disability also face many hurdles, some of us are in it together, eh?

If the present climate on welfare reform is causing you a lot of distress and exascerbated symptoms, tell your GP, get it on the record, as wioth any other cause of great stress. Suffering in silence and they may just assume you are coping.

As regards the fate of the disabled, I think we are up against it, like you say, those who go to work are having a worrying and hard time. Not to mention many have had to take pay cuts or freezes. The economical situation in the UK is not the golden era of the mid 90s to late 2000's and we have to be realistic that we (the unproductive huge group of millions claiming billion s ) will not be a high priority

As this thread is essentially a 'benefit discussion' and not a 'benefit questions/results' thread, it has now been locked.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
