Hi,

Just to remind you, that if your intention is to appeal, then you must complete and return a GL24 Appeal form within 4 weeks of your DLA Decision date.

Notifying the DWP by phone or letter will normally only result in a Reconsideration.

A Reconsideration is carried out by another DWP Decision Maker, they will will review all of the evidence previously submitted and any new evidence you are able to submit in the next week or two. The turnover rate for a Reconsideration is low although some Members have been successful after they have submitted additional, significant, evidence in support of their condition.

A Reconsidertion typically takes 11-13 weeks and if the original Decision is not overturned you can still appeal, providing you do so within four weeks.

If you appeal, then the DWP will carry out a Reconsideration as above, if they fail to overturn the Decision, they will submit your file to the Tribunal Servcice for an Appeal.

You can download a GL24 form from here or pick up a copy from your local JCP or CAB office.
