Quick question about supersession was created by darrenr1
Hi I'm new to benefits and work ,did a search but couldn't find anything about this,I asked the DWP for a form for DLA supersession,do I have to go through with it and fill in and return the form or can I leave it and just let my claim continue ?

Thanks for looking Darren

No you don't need to complete the form, however, if your request was made because you believed your condition had changed, either for the better or the worse, then you do need to notify them of a change of circumstances, which might in it's own right cause a re-assessment of your claim.

Thanks for the quick reply Gordon,my condition has worsend and care needs increased, but worried about losing my current rates and indefinite period I've had for four years and don't think I could cope with appeals at the moment.

Do I need to be specific about the change of circumstances or just say I need extra care because things have got worse.

Thanks

Hi,

As Gordon has already said above, if you have informed the DWP of a change in your condition, then they could review your claim. Without you returning the form though, it is doubtful that they actually would, but they could.

If you have got the form and are thinking of submitting it, then you will need to go into detail about your revised needs, both care and mobility. Again it could trigger a full review, potentially including a medical. Your current level of award could be revised up or down on that basis.

It is worth seeking face to face in depth advice from a welfare rights adviser in order to both establish the relative 'safety' of your current award and the potential outcome in asking for the supercession/review.

with regards losing your current claim there are records stored on here not sure where :) that show of over 180,000 people who asked for it to be looked at again only 3% came out with a total removeal of the award many did not change some went down many went up someone might post a link

:)

Can I just thank the members who helped me with this and to let you that I got my supersession of my DLA and got high rates for both care and mobility, this just on my form without medical or even a report from my own doctor, just the help of this forum and the booklets in the members section,it's certainly been worth the money to sign up.

Thanks again Darren
