esa decision was created by steve d
i just do not believe it.i went for my atos medical 25/07/11 coming away thinking it was a complete waste of time.looking and working through the descriptors no way could i expect to get 15 points and at best if i was lucky i might get 6 points.i did send in an occupational health report which states that i would be unfit for work for approx next 6 months or so.i can only guess but the dwp must have used this for the decision as i have been put into the wrag untill 01/12/11. they even tell me they will pay me a £10 bonus first week in december.
i had my appeal form already filled out waiting for the decision so as i said i just do not believe it.

Hi Steve

Well done and thanks for letting us know. It's unfortunate that genuine claimants often assume that they will not get what they are entitled to (as many don't) and will have to appeal; I'm glad it didn't happen in your case.

Regards

Derek

well done Steve d, I'm sure your allocation to the WRAG group was justified !

Some really good news from me as well - I gave up work just over 2 yrs ago after 42 yrs in full time employment. I was subsequently diagnosed with Parkinsons Desease. I was eventually persuaded to apply for Contribution based ESA & was subsequently allocated into the WRAG group March 2010. On 15/6/2011 I attended a 2nd ESA medical to reassess my work capability. Today almost 2 months later, I received the brown letter & a decision ... I've been upgraded from WRAG to Support group !!!
Believe me Steve & other readers I've been stressed about completing the ESA50 & attending the medical, certainly impacted on my health. So yes I'm relieved to have justifiably been allocated to the support group. I have to give massive praise to Benefits & Work people & its volunteers who give theri time & expertise to encourage claimants the encouragment & advice to battle with a very complex system. I'm certain that their guidance in completing my ESA50 has helped with my claim & upgading to the Support Group.

I may now feel the motivation to make a claim for DLA but have a query. Will aquiring my ESA85 help with my DLA application and does it make sense to also ask for my ESA65 given that I 'passed' the ESA medical & was infact upgraded to Support Group ?? Any advice would be appreciated, so thanks

John

First of all well done on ESA claim.

It is certainly worth having a look at your ESA medical reports, whether they would assist your DLA claim will depend on the criteria that were used to put you into the Support Group. If they are relevant to a DLA claim then it can do no harm to use them, after all the DWP don't seem to hesitate when there is a negative result.

thanks for that Rachel I hope it encourages others to use the help, advice & resources that Benefits & Work provide ... it certainly has helped me.

thanks for getting back so soon Gordon. Will ask for my ESA85 & ESA65 and see if I think it helps support with a DLA claim. Keep up the good work, we're lucky to have you ! cheers John
