Hi Linda,
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry to hear you are going through the same crap as we are. Can't wait to see how they cope with me dragging my husband along to all this work related stuff whatever it turns out to be!! What makes me laugh most is exactly who they think will employ a 55 year old woman with long term health problems anyway.
Take care
A x

The change of rules regarding NI contributions is extremely unfair and will have a massive impact particularly on low income families.

Is it no longer just a proposal and the law now?

I can only urge people who feel they meet the criteria for the support group to appeal.

Would one be entitled to apply for contribution based ESA again if you are not reassessed before the 12 month is up as a gap is created?

Best wishes

No it's not law yet, but there seems little liklihood that it will not be.

In order to claim ESA(CB) you need to have earnt enough qualifying NI credits in the designated tax years, you can't do this without working.

we work hard all our life, pay our National Insurance so if fate is cruel we get the help we need, then after 12 months thats it?
words fail me. I assume then if we hadn't worked hard and payed our way we would carry on getting help?
((hugs)) A... I too am confused and frankly terrified over all this and my heary goes out to you. I too worked from 15, including several years in the RAF and asked for nothing from the state, I too am 55 and my husband works full time on an ever decreasing wage and goes to work terrified I will have had another bad fall or left the gas on and blown up the house whilst he's out. I cannot walk without agony, sit without agony or go out at all without my husband. I too have just been put in WRAG from indefinate IB after my last medical in 2004. OHHH sorry I have rambled again

Linda just spotted this post and see you too are ex raf based on your age .. there is a chance you have a frozen pension that if your too ill to work...you cant take now if not you would get it at age 60 did you get a piece of paper with details

you would have had to have served at least 2 years after 18 birthday

this is not a war pension but your basic service pension

I have but assume that will change to 66 as the retirement age for women does. It sure won't be much as I left in 1980... gosh a lifetime ago. I used to climb cliffs, hike miles and jump out of helicoptors [for fun LOL] ha, now I struggle to get from one room to another in our tiny house and have to lie down when I make it. the stairs are my cliffs now and take much longer to climb... painfully... and have to lie down again... oh I wanna be ME again.

Can you not have earned NI credits whilst in receipt of IB and therefore be placed on ESA (CB)
