CLA should still be available I have just had a meeting with my my CAB advisor who is doing my reclaim with the assistance of a solicitor.

At this meeting on the 4th August they said that aid was still available and I signed a consent form for my GP to release my medical record to them.

I was the same as Fedup, I got 10yrs of my medical records and it only cost me £15, so maybe have a word with the practice about pricing, and explain you can't afford much, I'm sure there is a way around this for you.
Good luck with everything.

Hi Towser,
Thanks for the phone number, just going to wait for now and see if the DWP will in fact do what they say, but will ring the Community advice line just to find out in advance.

Rachael,
Hi, yes I called my surgery who called me back. Its £50 for a computerised copy, more for a handwritten one though she couldn't say how much. Explained I was on basic rate ESA but makes no difference. I really need to go as far back with my records as March 2007 when I had my first discectomy so they can see I had previous spinal surgery prior to my last one last year.

For now I'll ring the advice line number then just wait and see if the DWP will actually get my records, pigs might fly lol! but not going to get stressed about it till I know whats what.

Regards,
Anne

Hi Anne,

I think £50 is about the maximum that they can charge, it is surprising how much difference there is in the cost.

I only paid £20 for the whole of my G.P. records going back to when I was a child, which was all put on a CD.

My G.P. has also provided a 2 page letter of support, free of charge.

Have you thought of doing what Quietlightning suggests in a post earlier on in this thread, i.e. you can make an appointment to view all your records at your G.P. surgery, and simply ask for copies of any relevant extracts.

I would assume that this would be much cheaper.

With regard to the the DWP obtaining evidence, I am pretty sure that they will not actually gain copy of all your G.P. records.

They may either send your G.P.an ESA113 form which is like a more concise version of the ESA50, or they may request a written report.

Unfortunately the DWP can not always be relied upon to obtain this evidence, this is the advantage of you providing it for them.

Best wishes
