As the DLA pay week normally runs from a Wednesday to a Tuesday, the payment of the new award should commence from Wednesday 10 August 2011.

So the first 4 week payment of the new award would be on Tues 6th Sept, is that correct

We got a letter today from DWP regarding the wifes recent increase of DLA.

It was a breakdown of the amount of income support we will now receive.

IS (minus) IB
Plus DLA = a wekly total

(this amount was what we get fortnightly anyway plus the ne DLA awards.

But what puzzled me is the
WE WILL PAY YOU £XXXX weekly.

Does this mean the DLA will be now paid fortnightly with the IB/IS intead of any 4 weeks as it was before?

Hi Alf,

From personal experience, benefits, allowances are always broken down into weekly amounts.

My benefit breakdown letters are the same, however my DLA is still paid 4 Weekly.

Hope this helps

Well I think the DWP may be chaging their payment methods as:

Wife was paid her usual fortnightly IB/IS today, but it included 2 weeks HRM/LRC DLA in one sum.

It was also paid into the account specified for IB/IS, her DLA used to go into a different account, so don't know if this is some mistake or a new idea the DWP has come up with.

I think I may have to ring them in the morning to see what exactly is going on.
