When should i send my esa50 back? was created by Sandra
Hi all
My esa50 is due back on the 26th this month and i plan to to check it over again this weekend and print stuff as there was not enough room in the boxes and extra information and send it 23rd is that too late? and should i send it recorded delivery or just get proof of posting.

btw i got a supporting letter from my doctor would that count as a medical report as it is a report from my doctor?
thanks

Hi Sandra,

As far as ATOS/DWP are concerned it is up to you to ensure that you take reasonable steps to ensure that your ESA50 is returned by the deadline date.

I could not possibly advise you on whether posting your ESA50 on the 23rd to arrive on the 26th would be O.K.

You could post it back on that date, by recorded next day delivery, if you are prepared to pay the charge, if you do that and it did not arrive you would have proof that you had taken reasonable steps to return it by deadline.

IMO, posting it on the 23rd (next Tues) to arrive by 26th (next Fri) may be cutting it a bit fine.

Please be aware DWP can sanction your benefit for failure to return the ESA50 by the deadline.

I'm afraid it's with you to decide.

The simple answer re the G.P. letter versus G.P. report is a letter is what it says, a report is more in depth, and probably more expensive.

If you put medical evidence into the search engine at the top of the page lots of threads will come up re this, there was also a thread here today re this.

Hope this helps

Hi Sandra,

In normal circumstance, one would assume that posting a letter 1st class on a Tuesday would get the letter there by the Friday.

If you posted it on the Tuesday and asked for proof of posting, this could be deemed as taking reasonable steps to ensure return by deadline. The proof of posting would be proof that you actually posted the ESA50 on Tuesday, but wouldn't tell you that it had actually been delivered by Friday, as would be the case if posted recorded delivery, which you could then track on-line.

I think the closer to deadline that an ESA50 is posted, the more likelyhood that there may be problems.

I hope you understand that I can't actually advise you as to which day to post the ESA50.

cheers
