ATOS returns all supporting and medical evidence

Having submitted my ESA50 plus supporting letters and additionallly a GP letter of support, I was surprised, to put it mildly, that ATOS have returned all saying that:-

" we do not require them to process your referral".

Is this normal, and has anybody else had this experience?

I also copied everything to the local office, but I read ATOS' response as meaning they will not look at supporting evidence, only the ESA50.

I have not seen anyone else report this, so would appreciate any comments.

Hi Selby,

So have ATOS sent your ESA50 back as well, or just the additional evidence?.

cheers

Hi,

This is highly unusual, I have not seen this before either.

ATOS are obliged to take any extra medical evidence into account, as is the DWP decision maker, who actually makes the decision as to whether you gain an award of ESA.

This has been reiterated by Dept of Works and Pensions Minister Chris Grayling, as a result of The Harrington Review.

You need to find out their reasons for returning your medical evidence.

I suppose it could be something as simple as they have copied the evidence, and are returning the originals, you do need an explanation.

cheers

Hi, and thanks for the quick response.

If others have had the same experience, I won't be concerned, but I suppose I'll have to wait and see how it all pans out.
:(

They seem to work to their own set of rules, often making it up as they go.

Hi Selby,

As I have said I have not seen this scenario before.

I really would contact them and request their reasons for returning your evidence.

To "let sleeping dogs lie", may cause you problems in gaining an accurate assessment.

cheers
