I hope someone can help.. Although I haven't had my ESA50 yet I am trying to get my head around a few things to prepare myself for the worst
Regarding the (CB) ESA how would this work if I am being migrated from IB and haven't worked for over 10 years due to mixed episodes of Bipolar II and Emotional Intensity Disorder (Impulsivity). I was under the impression that to qualify for this ESA you had to have paid NI contributions for the qualifying period before your ESA claim.
I know I wouldn't get (IR) ESA as my husband has too much household income and earns too much anyway. And before anyone says why are we claiming, the money I get from my IB helps for my care and provides me with an acceptable living and independance.
The other thing I am confused over is as I don't have a review date on my existing IB - it was indefinate which I know means I could be called anytime under IB. Would anyone know when I am likely to be reassessed for the new ESA? I am fretting everytime the postman calls in the hope I don't get the dreaded brown envelope, which isn't helping my mental health.
Sorry it's long winded and I hope I have worded it correctly.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

As you are being transferred, it is classed as a continuation of your existing claim, and therefore, you do not need to re-qualify in terms of your NI history.
So to confirm, you will be transferred to Contribution Based ESA.
As to when you will be transferred, I'm afraid there is simply no way to know, other than you contacting the DWP.
My best advice is for you to start reading the ESA guides in the Members Only area, to familiarise yourself with the process, and to start thinking about how you would complete the ESA50 questionnaire and what evidence you can provide to support your claim. That way you will be prepared and it will be less of a surprise when you are actually transferred.
