I've a question about DLA renewals.

For clarity and the ability to type detailed responses, can the online PDF DLA claim form be printed and sent to the DWP instead of the paper one they post out. If so, would it still be treated as a renewal claim.

Secondly, the paper one posted out is marked 'DLA1A Adult February 2011 (revised)' in the bottom left corner. But the online one is 'DLA1A Adult February 2011' - revised is not mentioned. Is this something to be aware of ?

Hi,

There is information about trying to complete DWP PDF's by typing in this thread here:

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?func=vie...id=10&id=65947#65950

Technically a renewal claim is actually treated more or less the same as a new claim (other than a couple of minor points and the renewal process being conducted at Warbreck House near Blackpool) So the claim forms should not be too different.

I have not seen the February 2011 revised form yet so I cannot comment on what has changed from the 'unrevised' form. Can you spot any differences between the two?.

If you are indeed thinking of using the older form, I would give the DLA unit a ring on 0845 7123456 just to enquire of it is okay. Do take note of the name of the person you speak to as well as noting the time and date of the call and I would include those details on the claim form somewhere.

Pete

When this form changed there was a couple of threads on it, the change was ready for the change of Law in April when the new regulations came in for higher rate mobility me thinks

page 6 is changed with this added

You may also be able to get the higher rate if you:
• have been assessed as 100% blind and at least 80% deaf and need
someone with you when you go outdoors
• (from 11 April 2011) are certified by your eye care specialist as
severely sight impaired or blind and your best corrected (with glasses
or lenses) visual acuity (ability to see fine detail) is less than 3/60 or is
3/60 or more but less than 6/60 together with a complete loss of
peripheral visual field (vision out to the side) and a central visual field
of no more than 10 degrees in total
