the constant reappearance of thread was created by DRAGON2009
There is a 'potentially libellous posts' thread reafin g 'bump' in the forum feed

I really cannot see the point in several pazges of 'bump bump etc being visible to site visitors

It would be betrter to recalibrate the posting window so that the importance of not making potentially libeloous posts is em phasised at that stage

Bump Bump is meaningless to most viewers

Was thinking along the same lines myself xfactor, maybe the bumps could be deleted, will leave that to the more more experienced mods to decide.

why not make that thread a sticky, then it will always be at the top and no need to keep bumping it to get it back up.

At the direction of Steve Donnison the site owner, he has requested that the thread in question is periodically moved to the top of the forum, so that members are fully aware of the content.

The only effective way of highlighting the importance of the thread is from time to time to ensure that it is elevated to a prominent position within the forum. The use of the word 'bump' is a neutral instruction to elevate the thread, and as such it is of no meaning to forum members. Indeed, different moderators have used different expressions to elevate the thread with terminology such as 'moved to the top,' so the actual meanings of words used are irrelevant, other than to move the thread up the order for the reasons already explained.

I would suggest that if you have any problems with the thread you take the matter up with Steve, as it is an executive decision on his part and therefore of no concern to the moderators. Hi CD

I think members are making positive suggestions about the thread rather than having a problem with it, highlighting how it can appear at the top of a post.

I tried deleting the bumps one day and the OP disappeared. However, perhaps each time a moderator posts, we could delete the previous bump?
