In January I stormed out of another pointless session with my psychlogist. I did not trust the man and he was constantly late to our appointments ( 20min!). I have trouble with my anger and felt very let down with what he had done. I have Borderline personality Disorder. I asked if I could see another psychologist, long story short, they sent me a letter 8 weeks later saying , that because of my "distress" that therapy would not be uselful, and that they had dropped me from the psychology waiting list. So effectively I had no one. I was very upset with my psychiatrist as he had assured me that asking for someone new would not have me dropped from the waiting list. He then essentially said that the "pills" were not working and the "therpy" was not working either and that I should just stop o/ding , self harming ect. He then said he woudl not treat me anymore and woudl assign me a new psychiatrist. i am worried how i shoudl put this down on my claim, i initally had middle rate care component. But after my first renewal, my Psyciatrists reference got my claim cut to 0. Then I appealed, and submitted my Psychologists reference, and got lower rate, indefinately. I dont want to put my old psychiatrist as reference, but will it look odd that i havent a psychologist anymore ? I have been put on waiting list to see another type of councilor. But my condition has worsened having no other support. Is it worth trying to reclaim fro middle rate ? How do i explain the lack of psychiatrist and psychologist ? Thanks :(

You don't have to have a psychiatrist or a psychologist or any other -iatrist or -ologist in order to get DLA. You don't even have to have a diagnosis.

What you have to have is care and/or mobility needs, and these can be evidenced, for example, by statements from other people who know you, such as your GP, your family, your neighbours, your employers/former employers, your friends etc., etc.
