Returning ESA by recorded post?

Hi Everybody, sorry if this has been asked before! I've got to return my ESA application today, ( IB to ESA transfer ). I've had to stick the whole lot in an A4 envelope and I want to send it recorded delivery. However the address is a post box in Wembley. Will recorded delivery cause problems? ie It has to be signed for and I'm wondering whether there will be anybody there to sign for it as it's a post box address. I've rang the local office and they don't know!! Would it be better just to ask for proof of posting at the post office? Thanks for your help.

I personally think that a certificate of posting is adequate because the DWP often claim not to have received a letter even when they have signed for it.

I would imagine that somebody has to sign for the letters when they collect them from the PO box if you send it recorded delivery, but the most important thing is to have evidence that it was sent in reasonable time.

I sent my GP's medical report by Special Delivery to meet the deadline given me by the Jobcentre. I went to the expense of posting it this way so they couldn't say they hadn't received it. Guess what! They said they hadn't received it, and posted my Appeal of to the Tribunal without the medical evidence. They are a law unto themselves - I have never had such a battle in my life, and I've been through a horrendous divorce!! I was already ill, they have made me completely depressed and worthless. You may aswell send it pigeon post!!

Maybe the best way is to send 3 copies, one by proof of postage,one by recorded and one by special delivery? that would really confuse them!

I had to speak to someone at the Post Office yesterday because the stuff I sent to DWP by recorded delivery was still not showing on the tracker as delivered - 2 weeks after postage. I was told that PO box mail is signed for in bulk, but the significant fact is that it IS signed for.
