Hello All, this is my first post on the site so take it easy with me please ;)
My partner has been called for a medical in regard to transfering from income support to ESA and she is heavily pregnant, and due to her mental health is finding this process distressing. Atos have called her for the assessment in over 2 weeks time. This morning she is in floods of tears and I am so worried. She would be unable to cope with the assessment and the wait in the meantime is making her anxious and depressed. Not good for 30 weeks pregnant. I am considering the options such as telephoning Atos or the DWP, perhaps our MP. Our G.P can provide a letter asking for the medical to be done at home as they are very supportive. Also as our baby will be here shortly could they force her to attend wrag?

Hi,

Whilst we cannot advise on individual claims, in general, it maybe possible to ask ATOS (who carry out the medicals on behalf of the DWP) if they can carry out a domiciliary (ie at home medical).

However one does need a very good reason to request this, bot obviously having the support of ones GP may help.

With regard to Work Focussed Interviews in the WRAG, whilst generally they are a part of claiming the benefit, it maybe possible to ask the DWP to either defer them to a more suitable time or even carry them out over the phone. However it is at the discretion of the DWP.

Pete
