hi all,
just to let you all know that today i recieved a phone call telling me that i was entitled to esa and have been put into the support group, what a b####y relief. it has taken 20 days from my medical assesment, when i filled in my esa50 i put on it my disabilities and how they affect me and just a doctors letter, nothing else. it seems that some people send in lots of other information and some send in just their forms, i think as long as you give all the relevent info it goes a long way. i also think it depends on the dm you get. i will wait for the comfirmation letter before i get excited
just one query about the support group allowance, i think it is a bit unfair if i am reading it correct, the single persons allowance is £99 but the couples allowance is £105 that means that for my partner she gets £6.00 that seems rediculous, i know that there are extra additions that you get but she cares for me full time and gets nothing for working basicaly 16 hrs a day 7 days a week, talk about below minimum wage!!!!!!.

Hi,

ESA is not a benefit I deal with since I retired from work. I specialise in DLA/AA and associated appeals.

However, I believe if you're in the support group you get extra money than those in WRAG. See Calculating ESA and look at the example of Ben, although the amounts appear to be out of date.

I'm sure one of our moderators with good knowledge of ESA will reply soon.

Good luck.

Jim

Hi darrenay
Congratulations on your award for ESA. If you haven't already done so I suggest you apply for DLA as being placed in the support group is likely to be supportive of your claim. If you did claim DLA & awarded higher rate your partner would be able to apply for the Carers Allowance which is currently £55 per week.
Best wishes

hi mayflower
thanks, i already get dla hrm- lrc, i was on middle rate care but when i renewed my dla they reduced my care to low rate. this seems to be a common accurance now when people have to renew there dla, this of course saves the government millions of pounds as people can no longer claim carers allowance and also the saving of dla benefit.this i find realy wrong as we are now loosing out by £330.00 per month which is a hell of a lot of money to loose
best regards darrenay
