have a question, a friend of mine was called into the local job centre to us and asked to take id, so she took her passport. THey were not happy with that and wanted a bank statement, she banks on line. THey crticised her passport and said it looks too new and she had a week;s break in spain in the summer and the job centre said she should have told them about it. She is planning to have a weekend with family in north of england and they sais she needed permission to travel. So dwp is requestin permission to go anywhere, what next permission to talk, eat or breathe? What are the rules on this and has anyone been in this situation. She is in receipt of DLA. They do not tell you of the rules and penalise you. What are the rules on travelling with DLA even overnight with family for say chrismtas?

Whilst there should be no problem with someone holdaying abroad while receiving DLA, a claimant is still responsible for notifying the DWP that they are doing so.

This is not the case for all benefits and in some cases, such as JSA, any holiday, can be an issue.

See here for more information.
