Hi Paul, this is written somewhere on the GL24 form;

You must also send the office any evidence to support your case.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,
Rachel

Mod edit - Rachel is quite right form GL24 does state the above.

I don't think the DWP is in any position to tell an appellant that they 'must' send evidence. There is nothing in the Regulations that say you must send evidence. It is entirely up to the appellant.

The GL24 form also says 'use BLOCK CAPITALS'!

It also asks you to use additional sheets if necessary but doesn't say whether you should type your ten-page appeal statement in block capitals?

I suspect the next design of the GL24 form will say

You must state that you do not wish to appeal

:laugh:

Hi Rachel

I've had a look at the GL24 booklet and searched for the words "you must" to find the sentence you mentioned. The words appears 14 times!

The sentence appears in the booklet rather than the actual GL24 form (the tearaway part at the end).

They are correct to say things like "you must" appeal within one month, but there are times when they should be saying "we advise you to" or "you can if you wish...". It seems that some people at the DWP are just used to telling claimants what they must do!

Regards

Derek
