What does WRAG really mean? was created by cmarie510
Hello Everyone,

I am appealing the decision to be put in the WRAG. So far a DM has decided to raise my points from 6 to 18.

Today I was to have a telephone interview for my first appointment as member of WRAG. Before arranging the telephone interview I received a letter from Maximus saying that I was required to attend a 2 HOUR INTERVIEW and the point of this was to FIND ME A JOB.

My last appointment at the JCP+ lasted 5 minutes and was the professional there "handing me over" aka booking me an appointment with Maximus. She handed me a later stating that: I would NOT be asked to work or be made to look for work!!!!

So please, does anyone know - WHICH IS IT??!!! My bundle has arrived and in it they acknowledge that I can not sit for more than 40min (which I am contesting) and I was told by JCP I am not being asked to work, but Maximus says I am....arrrrrrrrrrgh!!

As I write this I am waiting for a call from Westworks (where I should have been sitting for this 2 hour job placement meeting!!)

HELP!! I will be forwarding all of this and the ridiculous "appointments" of a few minutes to make an appointment which could have been done by phone or letter....
to my MP.

ANY ADVICE would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cmarie

If you've been told that the point of the interview is to find you a job, they are either talking though their backside, or perhaps they mean that the ultimate aim of the interviews is to improve your health, prepare for work, improve your prospects for work, and if it all materialises, find a job.

While in the WRAG you cannot be expected to undertake paid work or apply for jobs.

Hope this helps

Derek

Hi, just to back this up;

A requirement to undertake WRA must be reasonable in the view of the Secretary of
State taking into account the claimant’s circumstances1. The claimant cannot be
required to
1. apply for a job or undertake work, whether as an employee or otherwise or
2. undergo medical treatment2.

From the Decision Makers Guide.

I would quote that at them!

Best wishes,
Rachel

Hello Derek,
It certainly does help. I have now had a conversation with the professional at the charity Paddington Development Trust, who told me that she herself would have to contact Maximus to see what might be possible for me...it just reminds you of how new all of this is for EVERYONE, but worrying as there seems to be no standards of care or protocol in place.

I think I will sit by a window in the sun and dream of another life. ha!

Thanks for all of your help along the way,
cmarie
