I received reply today stating I'm not entitled to any awards as they see me as not needing help, just that i'd prefer somebody with me at all times.... this is totally not the case and i'm already stressed out enough, its really hard for me to cope already.....I'm not very clever and i forget things all the time.... can someone please give me some advice and or help as to what to do next
Thanks Julz

I followed all advice off here about my mental and physical health.... I suffer with depression, copd, asthma, just been diagnosed with ptsd and been attending counseller for last 8 weeks.

Hi Julz
Sorry to hear that your DLA claim was unsucessful.
You can appeal the decision, on Form GL24 which will mean its looked at again by a different Decision Maker. You have one month in which to submit an appeal.
If the decision is not changed it will be sent to an Appeal Tribunal for hearing, which you may attend in person (more succesful) or ask for the evidence to be looked at without attending (paper hearing).
You can read more about this in the orange Members Only section.
In order to get DLA you have to have needed help from someone else for 3 months prior to claim and that help is likely to last for another 6 months, although you do not have to actually get that help.
The guides do give comprehensive help with both claiming DLA & Appealing.
Its important that you obtain further evidence that you need someone with you, (if this is the condition you are relying on) although this does not have to be all of the time.
You may get help with your appeal from a Welfare Rights Officer at an Advice Agency, who might also represent you at the Appeal.
please have a look at the guides and do let us know if you have any further general questions.
Kind regards
Michael

they said the same about me and clearly stated that I did not need help, I just prefer having it. That went to a tribunal and they dismissed it unanimously. So, don't let the BAS***DS get you down, its what they rely on.
Keep battling and checking back here. I have just renewed my membership and cannot believe I have been on here for a year but it is the best near £20 ever spent.
keep going, Lisa
