Help! ESA50 By Special Delivery & Still Problems!

Hi!

:(
I sent in my ESA50 by special delivery becasue it was so close to the deadline, and I had to wait for Benefits Advisor to help me with physically completing the form.

Royal Mail have confirmed delivery but ATOS haven't got it yet and are giving me the runaround. Have also called the Jobcentre plus office which deals with my claim. Again not much help.

Should I just sit back and wait? Am concerned they will cut off my money and/or cancel my existing claim or ask me to fill in another one if lost internally.

Please help. If I have the proof of delivery & signature, would this count for anything?

Thanks :(

Hi Augusus, I sent off my ESA50 about 6 weeks ago.

I checked on line that it had been received by ATOS and am now just waiting.

No way am I going to ring anyone about it.

My money is still being paid.

The ball is in their court.

Please don't worry, just keep hold of your proof of posting.

Best wishes,
Rachel :)

Not sure anymore! I usually send mine in the same fashion as you and I just presumed that the proof of postage and signature would be enough proof! But someone was saying yesterday that they did similar and they were told by JCP/BDC/DWP (sorry can't remember who) that all it confirms was that they received an envelope, not the contents!
I am led to believe that Royal Mail open the ESA50s for Atos and them hand them to them, so it may be possible that Royal Mail haven't delivered it yet, but I'm not sure how it works with special delivery - if Royal Mail get it and sign for it or if it goes directly to Atos and signed by them? I would investigate just so to try and put your mind at rest. Sorry I can't really help

It can take as long as a week from ATOS receiving your ESA50 to it actually being recorded as received on their systems.

If it hasn't been this long since you returned it, I would wait a couple of days before contacting ATOS again.

Thanks for your replies.

My ESA50 was due by 27 Oct. Royal Mail confimed delivered to South London address on 26 Oct.
Today, 28 Oct, am told by ATOS that because not received, my file has been sent back to the Benefits Office. What are implications of this?ATOS not helpful. Four phone-backs promised by local [Wembley] office. Nothing. Main number [0800] no use. ATOS personnel seem unaware that forms don't get delivered direct to office handling the re-assessment.

Should i just wait a few days and hope problem will self-correct?

Thanks

Unfortunately, by returning your file to the DWP, ATOS are also transfering control of your claim back to them as well.

The likliest outcome is that they will contact you asking for an explanation as to why the ESA50 was not returned.

You may be able to pre-empt this by contacting your local DWP office and explaining the situation, but it may be that the DWP will have to go through a specific procedure to resolve the problem. In either case, don't accept anything that is said, unless it is followed up in writing.

Until this issue is resolved, I'm afraid your claim will be in abeyance.
