medical assessment was created by mamma miribelle
Hi, I was awarded the higher rate mobility allowance and lower rate care for DLA about two months ago. Witch i was very pleased about. But then this morning i got a letter asking me to attened a medical assessmant in a medical center in a neghbouring town next week. My question is what does this meen, and what's the differance between an assesment at home, as oppossed to one in a center? Is this very bad news? As it's come as a bit of a shock.

Hi MM,

Was the DLA award that you mention given after an appeal?

How long after your initial DLA application did you receive the DLA award?

Were the awards given for a specific period, or indefinately?

Are you sure that the assessment that you have been requested to attend is in fact for DLA?

cheers

Hi again MM,

If you do not have the information to hand to answer the first 3 questions above, can you just answer the final question.

If it is not for DLA, is it for Employment and Support Allowance, (ESA)?

cheers

Hi
No I did not have to appeal for my award.

I can't remeber exactly how long i had to wait to get a dission but I think it was a couple of months, Iknow at one stage they were waiting on my gp's report (who i beleive did support my claim).

The award was given till 2014, and yes the assessmant is definatly for DLA it actually say's its "to assist them in deciding your entitlement to DLA"

Can they do this with out warning?

Thanks

Hi MM,

Thanks for the clarification, I gather that you have written confirmation of your DLA award.

If so, and the award was made only a few months ago, it would seem that there may have been some type of error in requesting that you attend a DLA medical assessment.

They do have what is called "The Right Payment Programme", see info here. :

www.disabilityalliance.org/f8.htm

However, as you will see from reading the above, you should not be reviewed under the RPP if your award was made less than 12 months ago.

I would advise that you contact the DLA Unit ASAP to clear up what seems to be an error.

See Pata1's post regarding a similar situation here. :

Hope this helps.
