TOPIC: CB 365 day for life?

Re:CB 365 day for life? 6 years 1 month ago #73737

This makes a mockery of the whole system, and people who are still employed should take note of what theyre paying taxes and national ins for when this can happen to them if they become ill.
When in work we have to pay as single people nat insurance stamps, taxes etc etc, then if we need help when we are ill, we may find we cannot get any help, if we have partners husbands wives, as we are then not treated as individuals.
The whole thing is wrong................

I'm confused now. I moved form IB to ESA and I'm single and have no savings (unable to work for many years)...what happens to me after the year is up? I think all of this legislation is gobbledygook.

Hi TCP,

If you are now in receipt of Income Related ESA( it should tell you this on your ESA award letter) the 365 day limitation does not count.

A recording of the proceedings yesterday can be viewed from this link. :

Be warned though, it went on for 4 hours.

At one stage Lord Freud said "I am completely lost", how does he think claimants feel?.

Hi TCP, if you are on ESA (CB), you'll go on ESA (IR), if you are in the WRAG.

If you are in the Support Group on ESA (CB) nothing will change.

Hi M,

You can follow the bills progress through The Lords from this link. :

services.parliament.uk/bills/2010-11/welfarereform.html

As you will see it is currently at committee stage, it is expected to be passed as law in April 2012, there may yet be some ammendments to the bill.

Sorry Gordon, poor English on my part.

What I meant was that if you were eligible for the Support Group but not ESA (CB), it is still possible to be in that group but not receive benefit?

Best wishes,
Rachel

Sorry Rachel, but that was the whole point of yesterdays discussion.

You won't be put in the Support Group, even unpaid, unless you subsequently qualify for ESA(IR), because you have no remaining entitlement to ESA.

The only ongoing entitlement will be to NI credits, and this will only be while you continue to pass the WCA.
