Confused - receiving ESA but now another medical?

Aslan.

You refer to 'first do no harm' and 'the suicide question'. If you feel you meet the support group criteria, having limited capability for work-related activity under exceptional circumstances rule - do your mental health experts indicate this in their evidence?

Or is the WRAG where you hope to remain and it is just the medical itself you are dreading? There is the 'good cause' option for not attending a medical, but am not sure how this is administrated these days? I would imagine your psychiatrist would have to be willing to write some sort of supporting statement.

It must be awful getting a call from Atos when you are not expecting it - or when you are for that matter!

Best wishes

I think the "Good Cause option" you are referring to is in explanation of why a claimant has failed to attend a medical.

It does not remove the need to attend the ESA medical, and repeated failures will undoubtedly be seen as a technical Fit for Work, with all the issues associated with this.

I mentioned the 'good cause' option because I remember it was applied to me once when I was asked to go for an IB medical (when i had been previously exempt) and was too distressed to attend. In the end my psychiatrist was contacted.

It is very worrying indeed if the system has nothing in place to deal with situations where someone is at risk of being thrown into a crisis.

There is no equivalent to the PCA exempt category that existed with IB.

An ESA medical is not always required, if the Decision Maker or the ATOS "doctor" are able to make a Decision, in the case of the former, or a recommendation for the latter, based on the information before them.
