Diverticular disease and ESA was created by The Thing
Hi

I have just been diagnosed with Divevicular Disease and would be grateful if anyone has scored points for this for ESA.

Its A bowel condition which can cause bouts of diarrhoea where I don't always make it to toilet on time.

Thanks

hi

i have it & mentioned it on my ESA50 but i was not point scored, i was told i simply "met the threshold" which i have written a complaint letter about as this does not tell me what descriptors i scored on or not. i have also appealed so sorry i cant answer your question. it seems a lot of people are being told this recently.

Incontinence is certainly one of the ESA descriptors and, depending on how often it happens, can also be a support group descriptor.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

One thing I DO know an awful lot about as I have been suffering with it since Feb 2010. It isn't a rare condition as many suffer from it, but some circumstances are different and it is mentioned in the DM's handbook found on the site. I have never had diarrhoea with it as it is something to avoid. Google it and read, and I would also say it depends on how it affects you on a daily basis ...many don't even know they have it!

Hi,

Just a reminder that it is not the medical conditions in themselves that qualify a claimant for ESA, it is the resulting limitations and disabilities.

It is quite possible that two people could suffer with the same medical conditions, but suffer different limitations.

The ESA WCA, is a capability test, that should take into account the claimant's limitations, and what capabilites they have for work, if any.
