Well the much vaunted brown envelope dropped on my door mat today. It was dated 11th November ( last friday) and says the benefit I am on is changing etc... To be honest I am glad it is here and I can now apply myself to dealing with it rather than the worry of waiting months and months.
As it happens my DLA is due for normal review in mid January and I have always suspected I would face both processes simultaneously ( I dont believe in coincidences where the DWP are concerned)..
I already have much of my evidence ready and written for both processes. I have no consultants invloved now , as medically I have reached the end of the line and no further surgery is possible: however, my GP here has written me supporting letter for the DLA review but like many GP's says that where Incap /ESA are concerned he will give the DWP his evidence should they choose to write him.My former GP used to do the same where I lived previosly though i have read on here that some people's GP's do write supporting letters for sickness benefits as a matter of course.
Personally I haven't any real worries but having read people s experiences on here over the last eighteen months I am loathe to have to go through the appeal process for a year or so with all the added stress and strain. Thus I will hope to give as much evidence as possible initially in order to get what I believe I am entitled to at the first bite of the cherry as it were.
I recieve HRM MRC of DLA and have been on Incap since 2005/6 due to longstanding knee and back injuries along with other complications which now include DVT's and a left knee issue as well as a the right knee which is trashed
.
I'm hoping for support group like many but expect WRAG ( or who knows even worse) though I do note there seem to be quite a few members writing in getting on support group lately. Good luck everyone and dont be disheartened......

That's good. Stress of DLA and ESA at once must be horrible. Good luck to you.

I buried my head in the sand until getting the transfer letter for IB to ESA and it's been a gruelling process since. And I haven't even sent the form off yet! I was lucky to get the six weeks and my form needs to be in near the end of November. (so soon)

This site is brilliant. A brilliant guide and help on the forums too. I had some helpful input from the CAB as well (had to have my MHP go with me to the appointment as I was so distressed about going).

But this whole transfer process has still taken its toll on my mental helath. I'm putting that on my form with some examples.

To be honest i have had all my evidence ready for ages as it has been looming. Like I say in some ways i'm glad its here but Im sure ill get stressed when i have to deal with the DWP by phone etc as one often gets passed from pillar to post and given contradictory advice: i await the phone call now which I expect later this week so that means my forms will be in just before xmas.
It really is a lottery Good luck with your medical and just try and give a full account of how your health issues affect you and make sure you appeal if you are unhappy People shouldnt give up if they dont hold onto their entitlement at the first instance

I've finally got a date for my appeal for DLA, January,2012. Would paying for a report from my neurologist be worthwhile? money is extremely tight at the moment. Do they read them? CAB are trying to help, but they're under a lot of pressure from so many more clients, I'm not sure they will be able to afford me enough time/advice that I need. I have 4 slipped discs, knee and hip replacements, spina bifida occulta, high blood pressure, anaemia, and a shoulder that disslocates caused by osteo-arthritis,numbness in my right hand/arm. I've had DLA before, but because I didn't fill in a form last September, it stopped; I didn't understand that I had to fill it in!! I thought they already understood my illness is progressive, I can't get an operation for my spine. Any advice would very much be appreciated, thank-you, Bubbles.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid we cannot advise members on whether one course of action is better than another.

Why can’t you answer a question about my specific claim?

If a report was submitted, then the Tribunal panel are obliged to read it and take it account as part of their deliberations. However, they are also entitled to decide what weight to give such evidence and whether they will favour it over other submissions, or vice versa.

Even if your CAB is to busy to assist, there are other sources of benefit assistance, see Where to get advice?

Hi Tc

Please post general questions about benefits or the B&W guides.

Why hasn’t my post appeared?
