Hi,

The criteria for an ESA award is much more prescribed than for an award Incapacity Benefit.

If you are confused, it maybe worth reading the ESA literature and guides in the members area here:

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa

Also the faq's in the spotlights area at the top of the forum can answer many of the usual queries about ESA.

Hi,

No, you cannot be forced into accepting work.

You are obliged to attend a series of Work Focussed Interviews, however these maybe deferred at the discretion of the DWP. If you fail to attend them without good cause or the permission of the DWP then your benefit maybe sanctioned.

Without sight of all your paperwork etc it is impossible to even guess as to why you have been placed into the WRAG.

The decision on whether or not to appeal is one only you can make, if you think you meet one or more of the descriptors for the Support Group.

It maybe beneficial to read the Employment and Support Allowance Appeals guide linked from this page:

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa

Be aware however that appealing does carry the risk of losing what you already have been awarded. Please see

Is there any risk to challenging a decision?
